Cape Town’s property industry called to register on the City’s Spatial Planning Database
Property owners, developers and professionals are invited to register on the City of Cape Town’s Spatial Planning Database by the 25th of July 2026 to receive regular updates on its upcoming review of the Municipal Spatial Development Framework, eight District Spatial Development Frameworks, and Environmental Management Frameworks.
Post registration, the municipality’s Urban Planning and Design Department will commence with community engagements in each district.
The City says the review will also include policies, strategies, and plans since 2023; reflect the latest urban context such as population growth and development trends; incorporate all approved local area spatial development frameworks into District Plans; review existing policies – related to densification, scenic routes, transit-oriented development; and consider alignment with infrastructure planning.
The eight districts to be reviewed are Table Bay, Blaauwberg, Northern, Tygerberg, Helderberg; Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain and Greater Blue Downs, Cape Flats, and Southern.
Members of the Spatial Planning Collectives do not need to register.
