Afrirent Holdings acquires Protea Hotel by Marriott Mahikeng

Afrirent Holdings has acquired the 99-room Protea Hotel by Marriott Mahikeng to form part of Indalo Hotels and Leisure, Afrirent’s hospitality and leisure subsidiary.
The fleet management, logistics, and hospitality group has secured full ownership of the asset.
“Acquiring Protea Hotel by Marriott Mahikeng is a significant step in our vision to establish a distinctly South African hospitality brand. The region’s growing demand for upscale accommodations, coupled with the hotel’s operational strength, makes it an ideal addition to our portfolio. We’re excited about the opportunity to enhance the guest experience in Mahikeng and contribute to the area’s economic growth,” says Kevin Burley, Group Operations Director at Indalo Hotels & Leisure.
Since entering into a lease agreement to manage the Fountains Hotel in Cape Town in November 2021, Afrirent has built a diverse collection of hospitality assets across the country including Skukuza Golf Club, Ba-Phalaborwa Resort and Golf Club (previously known as Hans Merensky), and Mane by the Sea Restaurant on Thesen Island, Knysna.
As a 100% black-owned and managed, Level-1 BBEE company, Afrirent says it is deeply committed to transformation and inclusivity with the acquisition of Protea Hotel by Marriott Mahikeng further supporting its mission to increase black ownership and to empower communities through its supply chain and ecosystem.
The Protea Hotel Mahikeng acquisition follows its recent acquisition of High Street Auctions.
