Cape Town’s top selling areas, suburbs and estates between 2019-2024 according to Lightstone

Cape Town’s property market has outperformed Johannesburg over the past six years according to Lightstone. In addition, homeowners spent more to buy in Cape Town than in Johannesburg with this gap having widened between 2019 and 2024.

The top selling area in terms of volumes was The Hague, a section of Delft and a large township adjacent to Cape Town International Airport with +1 000 properties sold at an average of +R133 000, while Sea Point was second in line with sales of just under 750 properties at an average sales price of R3.8 million. Sandown in Blouberg came in third with 590 sales at an average of R1.8 million.

Of the top 10 suburbs in terms of number of sales, four were under the R1 million average sales price with just two under R500 000. Llandudno topped the list at R26 million for average price sales followed by Bishopscourt and Goedehoop Estate. Sea Point, Fresnaye, and Cape Town city centre were areas that recorded the most in terms of total sales value.

Top selling estates included Sitari Country Estate, the province’s big seller in 2024 with 280 sales at an average of R2.9 million, Oasis Burgundy Estate in Milnerton (261 sales at an average sales price of R1.5 million), and Stellendale Village in Kuilsrivier (186 sales with an average sales price of R900 000).
