Construction of Butterworth’s Gcuwa Mall begins

100% black-owned Shenge Property Group, in partnership with Luwie Properties, recently held a sod-turning ceremony for Gcuwa Mall in Butterworth, in the Eastern Cape.
Strategically located along the N2 in the Amathole District, the shopping centre will serve as an economic hub catering to the greater Mnquma Municipality.
The development, valued at R352 million, will offer 17 000m2 GLA with Phase 1 to include a modern retail centre, a drive-thru facility, a taxi rank with kiosks for informal traders, and essential road infrastructure upgrades. Its additional expansion to 25 000m2 has been earmarked in the future.
Gwuca Mall’s development will also improve critical infrastructure in the Mnquma Municipality with the upgrade to bulk services, the construction of a new taxi rank, the relocation of an existing church to a modernised facility, and road network improvements.
Shenge Property Group’s retail portfolio includes Bushbuck Ridge Mall, Elukwatini Shopping Precinct and Thulamahashe Mall in Mpumalanga and Setsing Plaza in the Free State.
